2013-03-03 – Tai Kok Tsui 500ft Luminous Night Dragon
Aspect Ratio: 1-1
One of the first festivals after Chinese New Year is Tai Kok Tsue Temple Fair. It’s a whole day event with two highlights the Poon Choi Feast and 500-foot long Luminous Night Dragon
Poon Choi is simply an incredible dish of that originated from Hong Kong villages and very much Cantonese cuisine. It’s a true communal meal enjoyed by well over a thousand guests. I’ve enjoyed the meal a couple of times. This is not a meal for vegetarians as the list of ingredients all served in one large bowl can include; pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, abalone, ginseng, shark fin, fish maw, prawn, crab, dried mushroom, fishballs, squid, dried eel, dried shrimp, pigskin, beancurd and Chinese radish. Preparation of the meal can take 3 days.
After overstimulating ones tastes buds the main show is the 500 foot long luminous night dragon along with an array of lanterns. This is a highly recommended event for people of all ages.
