Hong Kong Wet Afternoon in Central
Hong Kong springs are the misty wet season. The harbour one can see this more clearly with the low clouds hanging over the city. The weather does not change so quickly but on the positive one is not likely to get soaked to the bone by amber, red or black rains. The heavier and out of nowhere rain occurs during the hot humid summers.
Hong Kong taxi’s the reliable and constantly rebuild Toyota Crown still lives on even though the city has tried to introduce new models with little luck and much resistance. To see a taxi with light on is an unusual sight during rain of any type. It should be noted that the sign on the dashboard is more important as often the taxi is out of zone and heading back to their normal area being either Hong Kong Island or Kowloon.
Taxi Tip: Have a map with the location of where you want to go. Make sure you have the Chinese name as well as the Western name as buildings all have names in Hong Kong. Often the translation between the two is not the same name.
Hong Kong Island – Mountain Side
Much of the flat areas of Hong Kong Island on the north side what most people associate with Hong Kong is reclaimed land. This means that other developments are on the side of the mountains and hills. As one can see in the picture the roads are steep and it makes a challenge for daily living. Hong Kong Island residents become use to this part of the life. Those from Kowloon and the New Territories are usually more aware of the incredible amount of stairs leading up. With modern technology such as escalators in the mid-levels getting around can be a little easier.
