Hong Kong Sok Kwa Wan Harbour Lamma Island
Lamma Island is located to the west of Hong Kong Island. One can take a ferry from Central or Aberdeen to Lamma Island. There are also lots of boats that transport patrons of the many restaurants you will find along the Sok Kwa Wan Harbour. The harbour itself is very sheltered and offers an ideal location for locals to set-up fish harvesting pods.
The Island itself only takes a an hour or two to walk from PAK KOK SAN TSUEN 北角新村, that has more frequent ferry service as most of the residents live on the northern shores of Lamma, to Sok Kwu Wan.
Lamma Island is lacking something that one will find in Cheung Chau or Sai Kung. I’m not sure if the power station helps it but it just lacks something. The hike is a family hike that almost anyone can do and one could even push a stroller as the trail has no stairs. There are no cars on the island but they do have small vehicles that drive like crazy in the busy norther part of the island so make sure you stay alert and keep a close eye on kids.
